Accessibility
We are unusual in that we have tried to ensure this site is accessible to disabled users. It's the right thing to do. More than that it is profoundly the right thing to do.We always attempt to:
- Ensure all images have ALT tags.
- Ensure there is a tab order to the links.
- Ensure all links have Titles.
- Ensure the pages render in reasonably legible fashion with all CSS styles disabled.
- Ensure all essential text fonts can be scaled within the browser.
- Ensure a reasonable contrast between text and background colors.
- Ensure reasonable textual descriptions of all links.
Access Keys:
Access keys are in page keyboard shortcuts that activate links. They can be useful for disabled users that struggle to use the mouse and wish to use the keyboard to activate links.
We do not use access keys. This is for good reason. See our article "Avoid using access keys" for the resoning behind avoiding them.
Instead a properly numbered tab index order allows keyboard users to cycle through all links in a logical order until they find the one they wish to select.
Notice:
At the time of launch we ensured all above precautions were taken and validated against the automated tests for Section 508, WAI and TAW using the tests available at www.tawdis.net and other places. Content may have been added since that does not conform to the above pre-cautions. Please report any such content to the webmaster. If you are a disabled user, we'd like to hear from you! Please contact us. We'd love to hear how you find using the site and we may have an opening for paid work reviewing other sites Real World Web has built or is building. Your opinions can count.
