Remote Hands On
This software does not install anything and runs "as is".What does it do?
When used the software connects back to a Real World Web technician and allows them to see your screen, move your mouse and use your keyboard. When you or they disconnect, the downloaded file can be deleted. It is outgoing only! In effect the "Remote Hands On" software allows you to invite a technican to help. If you don't initiate the connection AND have the right login details AND the technician is expecting your call, no connection can be made. Nobody can make an unexpected connection to your screen. You make the connection to the technician and invite them to respond. It won't work if:
- You are not connected to the internet.
- You are not using Microsoft Windows.
- The technician is not expecting your call. You must ring first.
- You enter the wrong login/password details.
- You deny/reject/disallow the outgoing connection if asked by your firewall.
It won't well work if:
- You have a very slow internet connection.
- You have a very old machine or a very low amount of system memory (RAM).
Step by step
- Download EXE or ZIP file onto your desktop or anywhere else you choose.
- Ring Real World Web Support on +1 201 738 1126. It is important to get the technician on the phone before you proceed further or the call will fail.
- Ensure you are connected to the internet and run (double click) the file downloaded (extract first if you used the ZIP file).
- Enter the password provided and click "Connect".
- If necessary, grant/accept/allow outgoing firewall permissions to the program.
- That's it! No install, no setup wizards, no fuss. You are connected.
IMPORTANT: If it is not a computer you own you MUST get permission from the owner before using "Remote Hands On". This is particularly important with 'work' computers.
So how does it work?
It establishes an OUTGOING desktop connection. This is important as it means that nobody can get in to you. As added measures the technician has to be expecting your call AND you must enter the correct login and password details before your connection will be accepted.Once the connection is established, your screen is shown to the technician. Their mouse and keyboard are monitored and when used, the movements and key presses are passed to your system by the program. As such the technician can see your screen, move your mouse and use your keyboard.
You can still use your mouse and keyboard to show the technician the problem or you can allow them to do it for you.
When you or the technician are done, either one can disconnect. At that point, the connection is terminated. You can close the program and delete it if you like or you may wish to keep it around for next time.
Having problems?
You can try our previous version. It doesn't have as good performance but runs better on older machines. Be sure to tell the technician which version you are using.
Remote Hands On v1 Download EXE (176kb) or Download ZIP (173kb)
On a protected or shared network?
That's not usually a problem since "Remote Hands On" uses outgoing connections rather than incoming. We also have special versions we can supply that use more common ports for more troublesome networks. Typically these are not needed and the software works well on protected and shared networks even if there are network firewall's present.
